Balance Swimwear was created by Morgan Fleming from her love for the beach, and from her belief that swimwear should bring joy, not anxiety. After graduating from college, Morgan's work in the art world prompted a move from New York City to Kingston, Jamaica, where she was in awe of the love that people had for the beach. It was in Jamaica that she made my first attempt at designing swimwear, taking patterns to local seamstresses. After moving back to New York, Morgan continued taking design classes at FIT, as well as became a trained meditation teacher under Dr. Joe Loizzo, specializing in Loving-Kindness or Metta practice. Morgan's journey wasn't the traditional fashion designer's path but it inspired her to build what Balance is today. The mission of Balance is to not only make swimwear that makes you feel good, but also connects you to a community of women who enjoy living their lives in the sun. Balance swimwear is designed and ethically manufactured in New York City’s garment district by workers that earn a fair living wage. The fabric for all Balance swimwear is sourced from Italy and printed in the USA. They chose Italian lycra made from 78% Recycled Polyester and 22% Elastane because it looks and feels great on your body and also holds up to wear and tear like a champ.
