Girlfriend Collective is an amazing active wear company based on transparency, ethical manufacturing, and representation. Girlfriend chooses every part of their process, from raw materials to facilities to their partners, with the utmost care. All Girlfriend active wear starts in Taiwan at a government certified, family owned processing center where post-consumer plastic bottles are recycled and processed into soft, breathable fabric. Once this fabric is made it's then dyed using OEKO-certified safe dyes. From there it gets sent to a cut & sew factory in Vietnam, which is owned and operated by a Danish family who’s been in the textile business since 1931, and managed by a Vietnamese powerhouse of a woman named Hien, who before working in fashion worked for the United Nations Development Program. This garment factory is SA8000 certified. An SA8000 certification guarantees many important worker rights including safe working conditions, the right to unionize, and that there is no forced or child labor. All wages start at 125% of the local minimum wage and free health check ups are provided every 6 months at the factory for every employee, as well as health insurance. In addition to their radical transparency business model, Girlfriend is paving the way in body image inclusion and diversity. Girlfriend embraces all body types, shapes, and colors because they know that all women are created different, and that's what makes them beautiful.
