Loom.ist is a collection of ethically conscious resort wear created by hand and designed for the beach, at home, or in town. All pieces are crafted from natural fibers that are hand-loomed in different regions of Turkey and transformed into fresh, timeless looks. Cigdem Toraman and Nilufer Sener created Loom.ist in 2017 with the mission to create change and beauty, ethically. Loom.ist is committed to working with local Turkish artisans, women-led businesses, family enterprises, and community cooperatives who produce unique and high-quality products with great care. Loom.ist provides sustainable incomes for artisans and conducts business following the principles of fair and direct trade.
In the face of cheap industrial products, longstanding Turkish traditions are slowly dying. But authentic Turkish goods that reflect time-honored traditions and years of experience should be treasured. With this shared goal in mind, Cigdem and Nilufer set out to find the best artisans from all around Turkey. They are passionate about reinvesting in the Turkish community in order to develop new artisan networks and design products that can continue to support the social, economic and environmental well-being of small producers utilizing age-old craft techniques that have been passed down for generations.
